Too Much Control
About the Game
Power Is the Problem is an endless action-survival game where gaining power does not make the player safer — it makes the world more dangerous.
The player draws power from the environment to survive, but every use of that power increases Heat, destabilizing the system. As Heat rises, enemies become stronger, spawn more frequently, and adapt faster than the player.
This is not a game about becoming powerful.
It is a game about restraint.
Core Gameplay
-
An endless looping world with fixed enemy generation points
-
Enemies spawn only when the player is nearby
-
Using power increases Heat, which affects the entire game world
-
Higher Heat increases:
-
Enemy damage and aggression
-
Enemy spawn rate
-
Player power, along with risk
-
The more power the player uses, the harder survival becomes.
Combat System
-
The player can attack enemies only from the front
-
Enemies are knocked backward when hit, then recover and attack again
-
The number of hits required to defeat an enemy depends on Heat:
-
Low Heat: 3 hits
-
Medium Heat: 2 hits
-
High Heat: 1 hit
-
While enemies become easier to kill at high Heat, their numbers and damage increase rapidly.
Health and Risk Loop
-
The player loses health when hit by enemies
-
Health can be partially recovered by defeating enemies
-
Health recovery becomes less effective as Heat increases
This creates a continuous loop:
-
Power is used to survive
-
Power increases danger
-
Increased danger forces further power use
Visual and Audio Feedback
-
The player emits a stronger glow as Heat increases
-
Enemy behavior and appearance change as the world destabilizes
-
Music and sound intensity rise with Heat
The player can clearly see and feel the consequences of power.
Theme Interpretation
Theme: Power Is the Problem
Every core system in the game reinforces the idea that power is not a reward, but a destabilizing force. The theme is communicated entirely through gameplay mechanics rather than narrative exposition.
Power solves short-term problems while creating long-term consequences.
Controls
-
Movement: Arrow keys / WASD
-
Attack and turn: Keyboard

Final Note
There is no final victory.
Only balance, restraint, and survival.
How long can you last before your own power becomes the problem?
